Welcome to
Engineering Design in
a Global Environment (EDGE) at
Wichita State University

|
Wichita State University is working
on a research project to develop a methodology for structuring
courses that incorporate global learning. Students will be made to
work on a project as a team in a traditional face-to-face
environment and in a virtual environment. The project involves
building an As-Is and a To-Be value stream map of a virtual
manufacturing line. This project will be offered as a part of the
lean manufacturing course to be offered in spring 2003 semester.
The outcome of the project will be used to compare the design
outcomes of the face-to-face and the virtual team. A methodology
for virtual teaming will be developed by bridging the gap between
the face-to-face and the virtual team.

Global Reach,
through modern communication technologies, and
Global Perspectives,
through interaction with learners and faculty of diverse cultures,
to produce the
Global Graduate. |
